Elevation in the Area

The two highest points in the Boone area are on Grandfather Mountain and Beech Mountain, both over 5,500 feet elevation.  The town of Boone itself is at about 3,400 feet elevation but is surrounded by higher elevation formations.  The town of Blowing Rock which is right on the Blue Ridge and the town of Banner Elk which sits at the foot of Beech Mountain are both just over 4,000.
